I thought that competing in fitness/figure competitions was HEALTHY! My body looked healthy, RIGHT? 

Little did I know… The female body is not designed to be at such a low body fat percentage, hence the loss of my period, the inability to have kids, polycystic ovary syndrome, and unbalanced hormones. The increase in testosterone contributed to hair loss, excess hair growth in unwanted places (still today), and horrible acne.

The excess stress burnt out my adrenals, increased my cortisol levels which lead to unwanted belly fat that I struggled to keep off, and created an acidic pH in my body.

Let’s not mention the mental stress from judging my body as ‘not perfect yet - still needs work’ and the obsession with my diet, calorie counting, and punishing my body in the gym the next day if I had a cheat meal!

I see so many young girls striving to achieve this ‘perfect body’…and if only SOMEONE out there was willing to tell them how unhealthy their behaviors are…not just for their current state of health, but more importantly for their future health!

I’m not saying don’t work out and eat whatever you want - I’m just saying don’t take it to the EXTREME! I work out 4 hours /week compared to 14 hours/week. I eat healthy and indulge in the finer things in life without punishing my body or stressing about it - AND I MAINTAIN A FIT AND HEALTHY BODY EFFORTLESSLY!
